I saw a local infomercial on KRON for Eagle Shield’s free energy audit and I made arrangements to have the company come out to my house. Some of the information given to me by the auditor was helpful and in the end they persuaded me to buy their foil-like insulation. It cost 3,600 with $1,000 coming back to me from the government. I took a risk on a product without any referral with exception to the KRON infomercial. I was sold on four ideas: It was eco-friendly, it would lower my electric bill 20-40%, it would help with my household’s comfort and it would line our house up with the newly established insulation codes for house developments. I have a wife, toddler and a 1 year-old and since it was installed in March, 10 months ago, not only has our bill not gone down, we have not reduced our carbon footprint and our family does not have any more comfort than we did before eagle shield was installed. I had a representative of eagle shield come out in the summer when I realized the “shield” was having very little impact and they reassured me the shield was properly installed and I would start seeing results soon. I feel majorly hood-winked and I would like my money back before the company goes bankrupt from duping other customers. I thought I was verbally told it was a 1 year satisfaction guarantee or money back…but the fine print says it is five years(I take responsibility for that). I don’t doubt this would work on some homes that are more inefficient with energy but their promise of saving 20% off my electric bill is inaccurate. I have saved nothing.
