Review 10/11/2011
4/2/11 Got a red light camera ticket at right turn in San Bernardino near soccer complex. This made me a 2nd offender and not automatically eligible for traffic school. My 1st ticket was less than 18 months prior in the Torrance court area when I was dropping my kids off at school on a quiet residential side street with no stopping during school hours signs. I think that should have been a non moving violation parking ticket, but the bailiff said no, so I just paid it and took traffic school. That weak ticket, turned into a real pain red light camera ticket that would now cost at least $500 in fines and $490 in bail plus more expensive 2nd offender traffic school if the court granted it to me. 2nd offenders must appear before the judge and ask for traffic school, of which he doesn't have to grant it. Info from the Internet said that 1st offender tickets and traffic school info is completely off your driving record. But for 2nd offenders, ticket info won't show up, but traffic school is noted and could be interpreted by insurance companies.

I checked around the Internet and considered different options from $200 where they provided the paperwork but you're on your own if you have to go to court, to $1,500 for complete attorney representation. I decided I didn't want to go to court but didn't want to pay $1,500. So I opted for a cost and situation in between, with clerks handling all communications and paperwork for an attorney who would go to court for me if needed. I couldn't find sufficient testimonials on these mid level firms through the BBB website so I almost just paid the tickets. I filed for 1 extension which almost expired on 8/18/11. On 7/12/11 I decided to give Ray and Violet 1 more call and I'm really glad I did. They explained we would not be proving guilt or innocence, but would merely make every legal request of the court and officers available to me by law. The attorney went to court and got me another extension and then filed all the needed paperwork. They were always there when I called, and were always extremely helpful and informative. By 9/22/11 my bail was returned to me and my case was dismissed. Thanks Ray, Violet and their attorney at www.yourticketdoctor.com.

My research shows that by 2012, many cities are getting rid of the red light cameras because they are not making any money for the cities. Also many red light camera cases are being thrown out as circumstantial evidence, depending on the city and judge.

Also, when I requested feedback from BBB reviewers on a particular ticket company, I got no replies. For some reason I couldn't find any BBB reviews for Yourticketdoctor.com several months ago which is why I decided to leave feedback.
