Big disappointment. Attorney was not knowledgeable about the area of law involved. Did not review the brief ahead of time. Arrived half hour late due to scheduling errors. Had absolutely no suggestions to offer to either side. Simply listened to each side and said he didn't think mediation could help. Was unable to define any of the legal concepts involved for parties. Both parties requested a full or partial refund. Ventura Center for Dispute Settlement refused even a partial refund saying that we were at an impasse and they did nothing wrong (except offer no advice at all which was why they were hired). Our impasse was not so critical that a volunteer from our group had the problem resolved within the next week. This was a waste of time and money.
