Review 7/6/2010
|
I need to write this while it is on my mind. I contacted We Haul on June 22, 2010 concerning my move from Illinois to Florida. The relocation agent was very helpful and suggested that I use there Self-Service option since I had about 1500lbs to transport. The self-service option is where the customer provides labor to load the truck at the residence and unload the truck once it reaches its destination. This option was affordable and seemed to be what I needed. The date that the truck was scheduled to arrive was 7/6/2010, well around 10am on the 6th I decided to call the carrier YRC to see what time the truck would arrive. I was told by the terminal manager Chris Johnson that a truck would not be coming because this was a self-service move and I did not have a licensed House Hold Goods Forwarder to load the truck(he stated that he had not planned on sending a truck today anyway because he knew We Haul did not tell me about having licensed movers and he tried to contact me last week but got no answer). He also stated that he had informed We Haul that they needed licensed and insured movers on several occasions but they(We Haul) continued to make appointments without telling the customer. I then called We Haul because the contract and the Bill of Lading stated that I was responsible for providing professional labor or hired help for loading/unloading of the truck. After speaking with the relocation agent, customer service and the cancellation department (Pauline), did Steffano Desorbo(owner)agree to refund my deposit( with the agreement that I would not use YRC for my move). I had to explain to We Haul that it was there problem with YRC and not mine, as the customer in this matter I was prepared it was there relationship with the carrier that was at issue and had caused my problems. Needles to say my stuff is still here, We Haul tried to provide me discounts if I hired Labor Ready to load the truck(I was told by YRC that Labor Ready was not House Hold Goods Forwarders and therefore could not load or unload). I was exausted with this process who's to say that it would not happen with another carrier. I was not going to let this happen to me again. Lesson: make sure you have someone that is a House Holds Goods Forwarder to load the truck.
